Who We Are
Urban Retreat offers unique home accessories and low-cost, custom-made residential furniture. We offer the same styles that you can find at your favorite popular retail stores with more fabrics and finishes to choose from with a savings up to 45% off the retail price! Our sales people are professional interior designers, and are always willing to work with you to pick the perfect furniture or accessories for your project.
How We Keep Our Costs Low
Instead of spending lots of money to create a fancy, formal showroom in a high-rent location, such as Tysons Corner, we've set up shop in what is essentially a big warehouse in the Sunset Business Park in Herndon. Moreover, we've designed the warehouse to look beautiful simply by furnishing it with the beautiful merchandise we carry; we spend very little on merchandising and advertising. Finally, we share the warehouse space with our sister company, Home Escapes, who carries hot tubs and patio furniture. The reasonable rent, unpretentious environment and sharing of our space keeps our overhead costs low, enabling us to pass the savings on to our customers.
How It All Got Started
Urban Retreat was started after our founder, Cynthia, visited a store on the West Coast, where she ordered furniture for her son. She learned that there was a way to get the popular retail look she desired at an incredible price. Cynthia decided to combine her love of shopping with her love of furniture by bringing a unique concept of low-markup, quality furniture to the Washington, DC area.
When you visit our showroom, you'll see floor samples of our most popular furniture items. Keep in mind that the samples you see are just a tiny selection of the vast array of customizable furniture we can order for you. And this selection goes beyond just picking the style, fabric or finish. Is the style of sofa we're offering just a little bit too big? No problem we'll have it made smaller. Want special hinges for your kitchen hutch to match the rest of the hinges in your kitchen? No problem-- we'll send the knobs into the manufacturer. And you'll be happy to know that all of our custom furniture is ...
